R&R or not...
It was here...my day to get out in the woods! My better half had been hunting and scouting on and off the last couple weeks. I stayed with the kiddos, but I won’t lie-- I wanted to be out there too!
Even though I have never hunted before, I love to photograph or just explore God’s beautiful creation.
We live in such a chaotic world and the wood’s is my escape from it all. I love the sound of the birds, or the rolling water that is caressing the rocks in the creek. I believe I could be a Mountain woman!
I am like a kid in a candy store when I see neat formations in rocks, coming across water falls or amazing breath-taking bluffs. I become a child again, climbing those rocks and boulders, checking out the caves!
So, I was more than ready to explore.
We got out there and my husband wanted to clean up some dead brush off a path, he did ask for my help, but I had to kindly decline (which I never do)! It is so hard to say no to him, but I was ready to cut my path for the day!
We had forgotten our CB Radios and there is no cell service out there. I had been here once before so I was feeling pretty confident I could find my way back to him. I kind of gave him an idea of where I would explore. We went our separate ways.
The first thing I did, was take a deep breath, listen and I heard “PEACE”.
I began my journey down to the creek. It is a pretty tough spot to get down because it is a steep climb down a mountain side. But nothing was preventing me being the "native" that is in me! :)
The sound of the creek was so breath-taking and relaxing. I sat for some time enjoying it. Then it was off to explore other places.
As I was walking I heard my name, "Shay". I stopped for a moment because I truly thought it was Terry calling me. I sat for a moment and thought well..."Lord is that you, or Terry is calling me from the beyond?" I paused and waited to see if I would hear it again. Nothing.
I finally came to a beautiful bluff. I wanted to check it out. It would require some climbing but I was up for it. I wanted so bad to get a picture from the front of it. By time I got to this place I was a good distance away from Terry but I knew we had the time so I took up the challenge. I got up to it and decided to venture to the front and see if I could get an over-view of the creek below and woods. I knew it would be a beautiful picture if I could get it right. There was so many crevice's, it looked like God made shelves right in the rocks. Pretty magnificent!
I made it down to, two huge boulders that were resting against each other but it created an opening that I could slide through and proceed to the front view (last picture to the side is of the bluff, blurry because I got this picture at a later date and wasn't going to get as close this time, arrow points to location.) I started to slide through the opening and felt this intense burning pain in my ribs. Then I felt it in my shoulder. I felt like I was on fire and I looked and apparently I slide my body right over a yellow-jacket nest. Those little buggers were flying all over repeatedly stinging me. I was thinking to myself what am I going to do?! The only thing I could say was, "Help me JESUS!" lol. Listen - one step off the front I would be meeting him! Trying to think quickly enough while you have raging jackets flying at you like Kama Kazee's. I swung with all my power, while I had some actually stuck in my skin. I ran as fast as I could and it was by Jesus I even reached the water safely lol. Not sure how that happened! I thought I had out-ran them and much to my surprise, I felt like one of those cartoons when you see it all coming at you in slow motion. I ran further and further. I finally got rid of them buggers! Now that my body was on fire and I had to walk a mountain, I wasn't to happy about my "get-a-way" ending before it started.
Now I had to find Terry. In pain, I was sweating from the heat I felt from the stings. (Thankfully, I am not allergic!) I climbed and some how got completely lost, so much for knowing where I was going. Terry was no longer where I thought he would be and then finally a glimpse of hope. I finally made it to a road and saw our jeep we parked earlier. Without knowing, Terry had moved the jeep so I walked opposite from it. Needless to say, since he moved it I was going the wrong direction from when we started...lol. After walking all the way back to the Jeep, I finally found him in the woods. I said, "This is the worse day ever!" of course it wasn't but it sure felt like it could have been one...lol I told him what happened and he said, "I bet your ready to go back to the house?" There is that part of you that wants to say no, but your body is saying yesss.
We made it to the jeep and I look down and I see I have a miss call with a voice mail. Very strange since there is no signal and the number was ---666----. I left the other numbers out because the weirdness was the middle. I am not a superstitious person but the voice mail that was left was a creepy, "Ha ha ha". So coincidence? You decide!
I told my brother and he gave me a little word advice, "Next time you hear something say your name, maybe you should stop going forward!" lol
My next adventure will be when it's cold and I know the bees are dead!
